After more than a quarter of a century in outdoor television, longtime outdoor TV broadcaster, Mike Avery, is hanging up his TV hat to focus on his syndicated Outdoor Magazine radio show and podcast. The final episode is a retrospective edition at how the show started. Marlin fishing in Cabo San Lucas, bonefishing in Biscayne Bay and a close encounter with an alligator while bass fishing in central Florida are all featured.

“Thirty years is a long time and it’s been a great run,” said Mike Avery, host of Mike Avery’s Outdoor Magazine. “I think viewers will enjoy the last episode as I feature some of the most memorable highlights over my career. I feel blessed to have been in outdoor television this long and would like to send a special thanks to my loyal co-workers, viewers and Sportsman Channel. There are a lot of moving parts in TV and I have worked with some of the best people in the outdoor industry.”

“Mike represents what is good about outdoor TV,” said Todd Hansen, Sportsman COO. “Mike has been a BIG part of Sportsman Channel and has always put first- class programs together. He truly embodies the outdoor lifestyle and has been a great representative for us in Michigan. We are very appreciative of what Mike has accomplished over the years and he will be missed.”

The final episode will also feature hunting as Avery goes on his first African adventure where he harvests a wildebeest with a bow, as well as a trophy Ontario black bear – not to mention his biggest whitetail to date.
