New Leica GEOVID HD-R 42mm (Type 402 & Type 403)

Leica’s legacy of constant innovation in laser rangefinding sport optics continues with the introduction of the GEOVID HD-R 42 (Type 402 & Type 403) laser rangefinding binoculars. Featuring an ergonomic open-bridge design, patented Perger Prism optics system and precision laser rangefinding technology found in Leica’s highly acclaimed GEOVID HD-B 42 rangefinding binoculars, the new GEOVID HD-R 42 (Type 402 & 403) rangefinding binoculars also provide fast, simple-to-use ballistics functionality.

Leica New GEOVID HD-R 42mm

The GEOVID HD-R 42 delivers accurate line-of-sight laser ranging from 10 to 2000+ yards. Additionally, Leica’s onboard Effective Horizontal Range (EHR™) technology provides precise Equivalent Horizontal Range (EHR) calculations from 10 to 600 yards.

Leica’s algorithmically-enhanced EHR functionality enables the GEOVID HD-R 42 to quickly provide shooting solutions based upon distance and angle for the hunter and shooter. Within 0.2 seconds of pressing a single button, the background algorithm working with the Advanced Rifleman’s Rule geometric calculation delivers precise EHR distance information for determining the correct hold over, turret adjustment or drop-down reticle aiming point. In a split second, the Leica GEOVID HD-R 42 provides highly precise and usable information for an accurate shot, especially at steep inclines and over longer distances.

The new rangefinding binocular is versatile enough to work with a variety of hunter preferences. For hunters using a classical reticle in their riflescope, the Leica GEOVID HD-R 42 shows the measured distance and EHR calculation for approximating hold-over. Hunters using ballistic reticles receive information for quickly determining the appropriate reticle mark. And, hunters that use the calibrations on a custom turret or fast reticle-adjustment system can quickly dial to distance for on-target performance.

The Leica GEOVID HD-R 42 is available in 8×42 (Type 402) and 10×42 (Type 403) models. Selling prices are $2,599 and $2,649 respectively.
