Turnbull Announces New 1911 Commander Heritage Pistol

Turnbull Restoration & Manufacturing Co. of Bloomfield, New York will have a new pistol in the lineup for 2016. The Turnbull 1911 Commander Heritage will be the newest member of the Turnbull family of 1911 pistols, joining the BBQ line as well as Turnbull Commander Custom. The new pistol, in keeping with 1911 tradition will be available in .45 ACP.

The Turnbull 1911 Commander Heritage Pistol will be formally released at the 2016 SHOT Show in Las Vegas January 19-22. It is also being previewed in the September issue of Gun Digest magazine. While it is unusual to preview a new product so early, very little about this pistol or Turnbull Manufacturing is “usual.”

Turnbull combines the most modern materials and processes with their renowned old world hand craftsmanship and love for retaining the look and feel of older firearms with modern works.

The new Turnbull Commander Heritage will follow the lines and look of the classic 1911 pistol. The Commander Heritage will feature a blued slide, nitre blued parts and the frame will be finished in the famous Turnbull Color Case Hardening.

The color case hardening is something that Turnbull is best known for among collectors. Turnbull uses the original methods for attaining this finish and the added strength it imparts to the frame.

“The 1911 is genuinely the most beloved and known pistol design in the world,” commented CEO and Founder Doug Turnbull. “Over the years, we have worked to improve the inner workings while maintaining the look and feel of the classic original. The 1911 Commander Heritage does just that. I am proud to put my name on this pistol.”

The 1911 Commander Heritage will feature a 4.25 inch barrel in an overall 8 inch long pistol and weigh in at 34.5 ounces unloaded and 42 ounces fully loaded with 7 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. It also carries double diamond deep checkered walnut grips and Novak 3-dot sights as standard on all versions and will come with 2 magazines.

Customers will have the option of upgrading the sights, ordering custom serial numbers and custom engraving on their guns. Each pistol will be stamped with the Turnbull “turning bull” logo, which is the mark of excellence for Turnbull.

“Stamping our logo on the pistol means something to every one of us here at Turnbull,” noted Turnbull. “We do not apply that stamp unless this is a firearm we would be proud to own and even prouder to offer for sale. The Commander Heritage has earned this distinction.”

MSRP on the Turnbull Model 1911 Commander Heritage starts at $2,850.00 and is expected to start shipping in February 2016. All components are made and assembled in the U.S.A.
