LeHigh Offering Next Generation of Personal Defense Ammo and Bullets
Lehigh Defense, always the innovator, is offering the next generation of Personal Defense Ammunition and Bullets. To kick off our new line of ammunition based off of our Xtreme Defense Technology we are pleased to announce the release of our 9mm Luger and 357 Sig XD line of Ammunition.
Lehigh Defense has always attempted to design bullets that are Controlled, Predictable, and Repeatable in their performance and will meet the needs of every shooter. We are not certain if we will ever be able to meet this rather daunting task, but we will continue working hard to do just that. To help us on our journey we rely on input from our current and future customers. Thus, when our customers approached us about the potential to take our Xtreme Penetrator (XP) Bullet Technology to the next level, we worked our tails off to do just that.
Well, we are pleased to announce our latest technology, Xtreme Defense (XD)! We combined the awesome performance features of our XP Technology with the performance criteria of our other technologies to create our XD technology. The goal was to reduce the depth of penetration to coincide with an individual’s personal comfort level (PCL) for penetration depth, while maintaining or improving the barrier performance of our XP product line. A secondary goal was to significantly increase the size of the Permanent Wound Cavity (PWC) as compared to the XP. We did not just meet these goals; we blew these goals out of the water!
As you can see, the PWC of our 9mm XD bullet is absolutely perfect, based upon the FBI’s Penetration Test. The medium utilized is 10% ballistics gelatin as required by the FBI.
Our XD ammunition has an optimized nose flute, total weight, and velocity to achieve a penetration depth range of 18 inches with a permanent wound cavity (PWC) that is just simply enormous; no other expanding hollow point comes close to achieving anywhere near this diameter and volume. Not only is the PWC over 100% larger than any other expanding bullet, it is near barrier blind, ignoring wallboard, sheet metal, and automotive glass.
We were able to accomplish this quantum leap in terminal performance at the same time while reducing recoil. The terminal performance achieved is quickly approaching that of 5.56 rifle performance and that is an incredible feat. The release of our 9mm XD ammunition will be followed up by the release of our 357 SIG, 40 S&W, 10mm, 380 Auto, 45 ACP, and 38 SPL. This is just for starters; there will be more to come in the very near future.
When Tim from the Military Arms Channel (MAC) heard that we were working on this new technology he approached us and asked for samples. Thus, to put the product to the test, Underwood and ourselves sent samples to MAC and asked Tim to put the product through the wringer and to give us his honest feedback.
