Standard Manufacturing Company’s DP-12 Video

The Standard Manufacturing Company is located in New Britain, Connecticut; occupying a building of nearly 3 acres dedicated to building some of the highest quality shotguns in the world, as recognized by its peers. Standard Manufacturing Company recognized the need for a modern, reliable and high capacity defense/assault shotgun to counteract the challenges of high capacity modern firearms.

The DP-12 is built on the principle of military firearms, which means machining it from a solid block of aircraft grade aluminum. The DP-12 derives its name from Double Pump 12 gauge. It is a 16 shot double barrel repeater shotgun. The advantages of a double firearm can be explained historically through dangerous game guns. Double barrel guns have been the center of dangerous game hunting for decades, allowing two instantaneous shots for reliability, with no cycling and no down time.

The reliability of double barrel guns have been proven effective in various occasions overtime. Each DP-12 is test fired for reliability before final inspection and throughout every run, a DP-12 is pulled off the line and shot thousands of times in order to rule out any inherent flaws. Two shells are loaded with every cycle and are ready to be fired immediately, providing the DP-12 with an unmatched rapid fire ability to fire 16 shells in seconds.

Any feeding problems or misfired shells can be easily resolved through a simple and virtually immediate cycle of the action. The DP-12 has everything directly inline, straight in and straight out, other high capacity shotguns require changing magazines or having offset feeding tubes that can create jams and misfires. Since shotgun shells are not precision manufactured like brass rifle cartridges, many abnormalities can and do occur causing failure to feed, extract and misfire thus, making automatic shotguns unreliable in defensive or assault situations. Therefore, the DP-12 manually cycled double barrel pump shotgun makes sense.
