‘Ask the DNR’ panelists to preview MI firearm deer hunting season

Michigan Department of Natural Resources staff will appear Thursday night, Nov. 5, on the call-in question program “Ask the DNR” broadcast live on Public Television from WNMU-TV13 in Marquette.

The hourlong program will air live at 8 p.m. EST and will be repeated at noon Friday, Nov. 6.

DNR staff members are scheduled to preview the firearm deer hunting season and discuss the archery deer hunting and bear hunting seasons, though the discussion typically is wide-ranging, based on viewer questions.

Those scheduled to appear include DNR Deer Program biologist Ashley Autenrieth from the Gaylord office, wildlife biologist Monica Joseph, conservation officer John Wenzel and deputy public information officer John Pepin.

The program also will feature the new addition of viewer-submitted photos showing people enjoying Michigan’s outdoors in the Upper Peninsula.

Those submitting photos to the program should include their name, the town where they live and the U.P. county where the photo was taken. Photos from this season’s successful deer hunts currently are being solicited for the December broadcast.

Photos and questions for “Ask the DNR” can be emailed to DNR deputy public information officer John Pepin at pepinj@michigan.gov. To phone questions in during the live telecast, call 1-800-227-9668.

“Ask the DNR” is produced five times each year in October, November, December, April and May. Previous episodes may be viewed online at http://wnmuvideo.nmu.edu/program/ask-dnr/episodes/.

The November installment of the program will be sponsored by U.P. Whitetails of Marquette County.
