Winchester Adds Two New Calibers to Varmint X Lineup

Varmint X® Adds Two New Calibers to Already Robust Lineup
Predator hunting’s popularity continues to skyrocket as more hunters seek to take advantage of the thrill and challenge of calling in growing predator populations across the country. As more sportsmen join the predator hunting ranks, more of them are turning to Varmint X, Winchester’s wildly popular line of predator-dedicated ammunition. For 2016, hunters can expect two new calibers to join the already robust Varmint X centerfire rifle portfolio with the addition of the .17 Hornet and .22 Hornet. These new loads feature charcoal-colored, polymer-tipped bullets. With Varmint X ammunition, hunters possess a high performance, accurate cartridge for challenging long-distance shots that are common in predator and varmint hunting. Varmint X ammunition bullets are optimized for explosive impact on coyotes, prairie dogs and other varmints to minimize pelt damaging pass through shots at any distance.

The .17 Hornet leaves the muzzle at a blazing 3,650 fps, and the .22 Hornet has a muzzle velocity of 3,100 fps.

“The .17 Hornet and .22 Hornet are versatile caliber choices for use on a variety of predators and make for natural additions to the Varmint X line,” said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of marketing, sales and strategy.
