Wolverine Trapping Suspended in Montana

A judge ordered a temporary restraining order and halted the trapping of wolverines in Montana.  Of course the whacko groups are behind this one, as usual, but could they be right this time?  The USFWS was conducting an evaluation relative to the Endangered Species List but ran out of money for the study – in no small part because of having to pay the whacko groups attorneys’ fees for so many frivolous suits.  In any case, the season has been suspended and details of the wolverines’ plight are here…

Idaho Wolf Trapper Offends Critics

Anja Heister, executive director for Footloose Montana, a Missoula-based  nonprofit organization trying to ban trapping in Montana, says a trapper’s decision to pose  for a photograph crosses ethical boundaries and is inhumane.

In response, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game  completed an investigation into the incident and concluded that the trapper did not commit any  legal violations.

Whackos Lose Court Battle over Wolf Delisting

“Personally, I’m very saddened by this ruling,” said Michael Robinson, of the Center for Biological Diversity. “We’ve already  lost hundreds of wolves before the job of recovery is anywhere complete. And the  ecosystem has taken a hit, as well as these wolves are killed.”

Wolf Control Debate in Montana Continues

Ravalli County, Montana residents have urged their commissioners to  allow shooting wolves on sight and to listen to science rather than  anecdotes as they write a countywide predator control policy.

“The policy has become too extreme,” said Dan Kerslake, a rancher from  Stevensville. “I think it should be based more on science instead of politics.  Implementing a ‘kill all the wolves’ policy is too extreme, but you also can’t  just let wolves run wild in your backyard.”
