NEWTOWN, Conn.–A pilot program launched last year by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) used e-marketing campaigns to boost hunting license sales by 4.2 percent, one of the largest increases demonstrated in test promotions funded by grants from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Aanalysts say and gun owners know that the “Obama effect” has translated into a financial windfall for the gun industry. The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates that firearms and ammunition had a $31 billion economic impact in 2011, up from $19 billion four years ago. NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry, has released a newly commissioned report detailing double-digit gains in jobs and other data showing the industry has been a leader in the nation’s economic recovery. NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Monday denied yet another frivolous petition by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) — an established anti-hunting group — calling for a ban on the traditional ammunition (containing lead-core components) for hunting and shooting. NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, invites public and private shooting facilities to apply for up to $400,000 in grants that can assist in developing strategies to put more target shooters on their firing lines. NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® has in ten years awarded $4.7 million in grants to 40 state wildlife agencies to fund projects providing novice and experienced hunters with more opportunities to go afield and new resources to plan hunts. Some 121 grants have been awarded over the past decade, including some to regional wildlife agencies. Read more
The newly introduced House Resolution 4089—strongly supported by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) – has cleared the U.S. House of Representatives’ Natural Resources Committee and awaits a vote before the full House. The bill passed the committee by a vote of 27 to 16.
HR 4089, which is a package of four high-priority bills will: Classify BLM and US Forest Service land as open to hunting, fishing and recreational shooting unless closed or restricted based on scientific evidence; Confirm that the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cannot ban lead in traditional ammunition or in sport fishing gear; Protect recreational shooting on BLM National Monument land; and Allow the import of legally hunted polar bear trophies now tangled in federal red-tape.
