Hornady Introduces 300 Whisper Ammunition

GW: If you have yet to check out this outstanding caliber, you may find it interesting if you desire a sub-sonic round with punch. Although it is slow by most standards, because it travels below the speed of sound, it maintains its velocity/energy downrange quite well.

Grand Island, NE – Hornady brings a new level of flexibility to the AR-15 platform with the introduction of the 300 Whisper®. The subsonic load features the 208 gr A-MAX® and delivers 1020 fps at the muzzle. The supersonic load features the 110 gr V-MAX™ and delivers 2375 fps.

Originally developed and pioneered by J.D. Jones of SSK Industries, the 300 Whisper® is a highly efficient cartridge based on the 221 Remington case, necked up to 30 caliber. Each load is compatible with guns chambered for the 300 AAC BLACKOUT and functions reliably in both suppressed and unsuppressed platforms.

Subsonic load with 208 gr A-MAX® (Item No. 80892)

This extremely efficient load provides a great tactical option for those needing a silent round. This is the only tipped subsonic factory loading available.

Supersonic load with 110 gr V-MAX™ (Item No. 8089)

A great short-range hunting cartridge that features a very low recoil from a 16″ barrel making it an ideal choice for youth and women.

Available in 20-count boxes, 300 Whisper® can be purchased at sporting goods and outdoor retailers. For additional product specifications and ballistic gelatin photos, go to http://www.hornady.com/store/300-Whisper.

Finally, a reasonably priced factory load. I thought the round would die for starvation. But you know what? Great ideas don’t die easy. J.D. had a super idea. Unfortunately, the military lacks the foresight to understand that the success of the AK is partially because of the munitions. The same mentality that thought the repeating rifle would waste ammo.
I will buy some to see what they can do. Thanks Hornady!

It’s getting easier to launch the .30-caliber devil, though, and I’d sure like to own a shooter myself.
