Tulsa, OK — Outdoor Channel television celebrity Roger Raglin’s DVD The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter, which was originally released in 2000, is part of the inspiration for a Hollywood movie currently being filmed in the Asheville, North Carolina area.Josh Brolin and Danny McBride are set to star in the movie with the same title, The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter. It’s being produced by Scott Ruden Productions and Rough House and directed by Jody Hill. McBride, Hill and David Gordon Green make up Rough House, the outfit that spawned HBO’s excellent comedy series Eastbound and Down. Hill, McBride, along with John Carcieri co-wrote the screenplay: A nationally known whitetail deer hunter takes his 13-year old son on his first deer hunt.
Reading the script I had to chuckle a bit,” Roger Raglin states. “In the opening few scenes of the movie Josh Brolin shoots a number of different bucks and full of excitement and enthusiasm he jumps up and down and yells ‘Jumpin Joseph’ instead of ‘Jiminy Christmas’.” Raglin goes on to say, “It’s really going to be fun to attend the premier and see how it all turns out. I have really enjoyed being involved in this entire process, and quite frankly it has been pretty flattering. Though it’s a comedy there really is a lot of drama as well. A lot. I’ll bet they come up with a winner, and I think the hunting community as a whole will support the motion picture. It will be the first time I go the movies and I already know the ending before anybody else does. And I’m not giving it away.”
