Auction for one of 10 pre-production, 150th Anniversary Model 1866 rifles open August 16-21SIDNEY, Neb. – Cabela’s Outdoor Fund and Winchester will offer an online auction, Aug. 16-21, for one of 10 pre-production models of Winchester’s 150th Anniversary Model 1866 “Yellow Boy” Rifles.

The auction will be offered online at www.proxibid.com/cabelasoutdoorfund. Proceeds will go to Cabela’s Outdoor Fund and its mission of promoting and protecting conservation and hunting, fishing, camping, shooting sports and other outdoor activities.

Winchester’s legendary Model 1866, commonly referred to as Yellow Boy, is an iconic image in Western lore and lever-action rifle history. Winchester is producing 500 commemorative Model 1866 rifles, chambered in .44-40, in celebration of its 150th anniversary in 2016.

The 10 pre-production rifles have been sent to Baron Engraving for custom embellishments and identification. Winchester generously donated these 10 rifles to select industry partners and special trade events to help raise funds for key programs within the shooting-sports industry.

Each rifle purchase will include a box of commemorative Winchester ammunition and a Winchester 150th Anniversary medallion.

“Cabela’s Outdoor Fund is honored to receive one of these beautiful and highly collectable rifles to help raise funds for promoting and protecting the outdoor lifestyle,” said Scott Wanetka, vice president of Cabela’s Outdoor Fund. “We can’t thank Winchester enough for this opportunity and for its outstanding commitment to preserving shooting sports for future generations.”

Cabela’s Outdoor Fund (COF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to efforts that promote and protect hunting, shooting sports, trapping, fishing, camping and conservation.
