MISSOULA, MT – The Boone and Crockett Club First Annual Conservation Auction opened on March 7. The online auction, hosted on GunBroker.com, features sporting collectibles that will be available for bidding until on March 21 (for firearms) and 7:00 pm EDT on March 28 (for everything else). Proceeds from this auction will be used to support the Boone and Crockett Club’s mission of promoting the conservation and management of wildlife—especially big game and its habitat—preserving and encouraging hunting and maintaining the highest ethical standards of fair chase and sportsmanship in North America.

Jack O’Connor tribute by Al & Roger Biesen, pre-64 Model 70 .270 Winchester
Imagined in 2002, commissioned in 2004 and raffled in 2006; this one-of-a-kind custom rifle is the result of superb cooperation between the O’Connor family, the Jack O’Connor Hunting Heritage and Education Center and the Idaho Chapter of FNAWS. Wapiti by Lorenzo Ghiglieri
Lorenzo Ghiglieri (1931–2020) is quite properly regarded as one of the most gifted artists of our time. His displays of wildlife sculptures and figure studies have dominated the major national hunting shows for two generations and his works are displayed at such prestigious locations as the White House, Vatican City and the John Wayne Airport. Working in bronze, Ghiglieri somehow was able to capture dynamic movement, raw power and intensity of the moment to a degree that transcended what the subject was doing to what it seemed to have been thinking. Ruger No. 1 .270 Weatherby Magnum
Made in 2005, serial number 134-12963 features a 26-inch plain barrel (no provision for open sights) with a scalloped quarter rib and attaching ring mounts (1-inch high “rings”). Wood figure is exceptional for a No. 1 and detachable sling swivels are included. The bore is flawless and trigger pull is very good (crisp, barest hint of overtravel). Mechanics are absent issue, and the rifle looks never to have been hunted. Both metal and wood finishes are at least 99%, with only minor indications of handling. Inscribed copy of Little America by Richard E. Byrd
Published by Putnam’s in 1930, this stated first edition bears the author’s ink inscription. What appears to be an original New York Times clipping of Byrd’s obituary dated 3/12/57 is also included. CONDITION: Overall good. Exterior is very good and absent discoloration. Interior hinges are beginning to crack but remain well attached. Minimal pencil markings and notes are present.
