New 065 Buck/Hood Punk® Delivers In Extreme Situations
Post Falls, Idaho– Knives for the demanding conditions faced in survival and tactical situations continue to play a growing role in Buck’s product line. Their new addition is another knife based on a design by the late Ron Hood*. It’s the 065 Buck/Hood Punk.
This new outdoor/survival/adventure knife can handle the most rugged outdoor terrain or conditions. Based on Ron Hood’s design and built to Buck’s quality standards, the Punk is easy to carry in its M.O.L.L.E.-compatible black nylon sheath with a front storage pouch, and it’s tough and durable enough for any hard-core task. The secure and comfortable Micarta® handle is built with a Shock Mitigation System (SMS) to reduce shock and wasted energy when chopping or doing other demanding tasks.
The 5-5/8″ straight clip blade is made of tough 5160 alloy steel, is 0.175″ thick for added strength and has a powder-coated finish for corrosion resistance. This spring steel is heat-treated to a Rockwell hardness of 57-59HRC for superior edge retention and ductility. It has a deep finger groove for safe use. Overall length is 11″ and it weighs only 7.4 oz.
Made in the USA, the 065 Buck/Hood Punk is backed by Buck’s famous Forever Warranty. MSRP is $180.

* NOTE– Buck Knives added renowned survival instructor Ron Hood to their growing Pro Staff in 2011, bringing new focus on a key aspect of the knife market. Sadly, Ron died suddenly mid-year, but the results of his work with Buck continue.
Hood was famous for his training techniques, as he had taught accredited courses at UCLA, and had produced and published numerous award winning survival training videos. He had been featured on many TV shows and assisted with the training that goes on behind the Man vs. Wild TV show on Discovery Channel. He also taught many military operatives the skills they need to survive in harsh outdoor conditions, based on first-hand knowledge and skills from his days in the Military Intelligence Community while in the Army Security Agency.
