American Silencer Association meets with ATF and Congress

GW:  This is good news, but I wish someone would get rid of the $200 fee, as well.  Just one more infringement…

Washington, DC – On June 20 and 21, the American Silencer Association (ASA) met with the National Firearms Act Branch of the ATF, and the offices of one Senator and three Congressmen. The meetings were held to address issues with current federal suppressor regulations, as well as the inadequacies of the NFA transfer process, under which suppressors fall.
With a backlog of over 30,000 forms, current wait times are estimated at between six and nine months. Given the near 300% increase in the number of forms processed annually since 2005, and the decrease of examiners to approve forms, wait times continue to grow. These expanding wait times place an unfair burden on suppressor manufacturers, dealers, and consumers.
