Sportsman Channel and NRA Launch Outdoor TV Category’s First-Ever LIVE Daily Talk Show with NRANEWS’ Cam & Company
|
New Berlin, WI – (Jan. 11, 2013) – In a first for the outdoor TV industry, Sportsman Channel and NRA announced today they are bringing the NRA’s popular talk-radio show NRANEWS’ Cam & Company to television every weekday live from 5-6pm ET beginning Jan. 15. Hosted by Cam Edwards, and airing live from the NRANEWS Studios in Washington, D.C., NRANEWS’ Cam & Company will be the one and only news-talk series on television that can authoritatively address the issues that are vital to America’s more than 80 million sportsmen and sportswomen. Sportsman Channel is a national television network focused on hunting, shooting and fishing programming.
The Jan. 15th series premiere will air live from the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show in Las Vegas, the largest and most comprehensive trade show for the professional shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries. The announcement also marks an expanded partnership between the NRA and Sportsman Channel, making the network the premier TV destination for NRA programming including NRANEWS’ Cam & Company, NRA’s Guns & Gold, and 3 Gun Nation sponsored by NRA Sports.
Host Cam Edwards, an engaging radio personality, insightful interviewer, sportsman and shooting enthusiast, brings a completely unique perspective and intelligence that does not exist anywhere else on news-talk TV. Cam explores the stories, people and places behind the headlines and issues that affect the lifestyle of people who love to hunt, shoot, and fish. Each show will feature coverage of the day’s current events and breaking news plus lively debate and discussions with special guests, including newsmakers, lawmakers, law enforcement, celebrities, athletes, Olympians – and everyday people who have a story to tell.
With national passions running high on the issue of firearms ownership and rights in America, the series launch is especially timely. NRANEWS Cam & Company will be the most well-informed, authoritative source of facts, opinion, and editorial for the millions of Americans talking about the Second Amendment, public safety, personal protection, personal freedom, the role and limits of government, and the sportsmen lifestyle in general.
“This is an American Revolution in talk TV,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO Sportsman Channel. “Cam Edwards will bring intelligence, insight, and perspective to vital issues and complicated topics – live, every weekday – that are being fumbled by uninformed instant experts on other broadcast and cable TV shows.”
“The partnership expansion of these two great American brands, the Sportsman Channel and the NRA, comes at a critical time in the history of preserving our Second Amendment freedom,” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA’s Executive Vice President and CEO. “Gun owners and all of today’s sportsmen and sportswomen must be fully informed on the issues around the Second Amendment, as well as the many topics and interests surrounding the sportsmen lifestyle. Sportsman Channel is giving their viewers and the nation a much-needed news platform for outdoor, hunting and shooting enthusiasts.”
“We are thrilled to bring the news, stories, people and places we cover daily to Sportsman Channel’s passionate national audience, which spans many interests from shooting sports to hunting to the Second Amendment and much more,” said Edwards. “The tremendous success we’ve experienced with our radio show underscores the desire for this type of programming to meet the underserved needs for accurate, balanced and honest information about the topics, news and events that matter to America’s millions of active sportsmen and sportswomen.”
NRANEWS’ Cam & Company continues the network’s focus to expand programming for the growing and diverse interests and lifestyles of America’s millions of sportsmen and sportswomen. Sportsman Channel’s campaign theme is “United Sportsmen of America,” which highlights the incredible range of interests, passions and characters in the world of the nation’s largest lifestyle group. It is a lifestyle that includes millions of men, women and children, from locations from big-city ponds, local farms and town forests to remote mountain ridges, vast oceans, and jungle rivers; and stories from raising families and running businesses to surviving in the wild and serving the nation.
NRANEWS’ Cam & Company joins Sportsman Channel’s first-quarter lineup that is packed with more than 100 programs, including 27 brand-new series as well as award-winning and industry-leading returning series like Fly Fishing the World, Dropped: Project Yukon, In-Fisherman, NRA’s Guns & Gold, Dead Meat, PigMan: The Series, MeatEater and more.
