CVA Introduces New OPTIMA V2 Muzzleloader

CVA introduced its new OPTIMA V2 muzzleloading rifle at the SHOT Show last week. The V2 stands for “Version 2,” indicating that this gun is the latest interpretation of CVA’s popular OPTIMA series, which first emerged back in the early 2000s and quickly became the market’s number one selling muzzleloading rifle.
While the new OPTIMA V2 shares the family name of its popular predecessor, the V2 gun is of a completely different design in many ways, says Dudley McGarity, CEO of Blackpowder Products, Inc., owner of the CVA brand. “The trigger guard actuating action, internal parts, and trigger design are all the exact same as our top-of-the-line Apex and Accura models, which pushes the Optima V2 into an entirely different class than any of our competitors’ middle price point offerings.”
But, despite the substantial differences between the OPTIMA V2 and the old OPTMA model, all of the standard features that have come to define all of CVA’s break-action guns are still found in the OPTIMA V2, including the Quick Release Breech Plug (QRBP), ambidextrous stock, and DuraSight Dead-On Scope Mount. And, for 2013 another new standard CVA feature is the PalmSaver Ramrod, which makes field reloading pain free and allows the solid aluminum, under barrel loading rod to be converted into a range and cleaning rod. “These high-value standard features are what set CVA apart from the competition,” McGarity continues, “and, with its new upgraded action and trigger, we fully expect the OPTIMA V2 to dominate muzzleloader sales between $249 and $399.”
The OPTIMA V2 is available with either 416 stainless steel or blued carbon steel barrels. Stock finishes are offered in Realtree Xtra Green and standard black, and one model is offered in a thumbhole design.
