PETA Reports Killing 90% of Animals in Virginia Headquarters

Recent data reported by animal rights charity group, PETA, reveal the anti-group killed 89.4% of dogs and cats placed in its shelter at the Virginia headquarters in 2012.

PETA, a well-known animal rights group known for its radical approaches to public campaigns for “ethical treatment of animals,” reported killing 1,647 cats and dogs last year.  According to reports from the Virginia Department of Agriculture, PETA placed only 19 in adoptive homes.

In talking about the pet shelter located in Norfolk, Virginia, PETA boasts on their website of “never turning their back on animals that need help, even if the best we can offer them is a peaceful release from an uncaring world.”  The truth is they killed 29,398 pets since 1998.

According to PETA President, Ingrid Newkirk, despite its $36 million budget, the animal rights group could stop killing pets, but in return that would mean cutting down on their work.

“We could become a no-kill shelter immediately,” she said.  “It means we wouldn’t do as much work.”

PETA is number three on the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance “Dirty Dozen” list.  The radical animal rights group has urged followers to interfere with hunts by protesting, spreading human hair, and other unlawful acts.
