DNR to stock steelhead fish in MSU’s Red Cedar River on Monday, April 15

Michigan Department of Natural Resources Director Keith Creagh will join Michigan State University Acting Provost June Youatt, Trustee Dianne Byrum, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dean Fred Poston, and many others on campus on Monday, April 15 to stock 3,000 steelhead in the Red Cedar River.

This stocking comes on the heels of the MSU Board of Trustees approving an ordinance change in December 2012 permitting hook-and-line fishing within the boundaries of MSU’s campus on the north bank of the river between the western edge of Brody Complex and the Sparty bridge. This is the first time anglers have been able to fish from the Red Cedar shore on campus since the 1960s.
