TactaLoad FLASH-5

I find it hard to imagine a more useful gun than the venerable pump action shotgun. It’s essentially the Swiss Army knife of the gun world. A shotgun can be used on game animals from small to ferocious, while still defending your castle. Malfunctions on a pump action shotgun are rare-even when dirty. A pump action shotgun’s only Achilles heel is its lack of capacity for ammunition. While there have been recent advancements in magazine fed pump action shotguns, the traditional pump action shotgun is still far and away the most popular shotgun in history with estimates of over 21 million sold. So, how do you improve on that sort of reliable popularity? You increase your pump action shotguns capacity for ammunition. Now, there are numerous products on the market that can help add extra ammunition to a pump action shotgun. A shooter can either increase the shotguns internal capacity with magazine tube extensions or can add external products that feed the user such as side saddles.

That’s where TactaLoad Flash-5 stock comes into the picture. www.TactaLoad.com

Apex Releases Competition Trigger Kit for Ruger Mk IV Pistols

PEORIA, Ariz. – Apex is pleased to announce the release of its Competition Trigger Kit for the Mk IV and Mk IV 22/45 model pistols from Ruger. Available with either a black or red anodized flat-faced trigger, that is adjustable for over-travel, the new kit is a significant performance upgrade for one of the most popular .22LR handguns on the market.

Designed, tested and manufactured by Apex to provide an improved, more responsive trigger pull in the Ruger Mk IV pistols, the Competition Trigger Kit replaces the factory trigger, hammer and sear with Apex components. When installed the kit lightens the trigger pull weight to approximately 3.0 lbs., reduces over-travel by approximately 80% and overall trigger travel by 25%, resulting in a lighter, crisper trigger break that is ideal for both the competition and recreational shooter.

Included in each kit is a safety plate that maintains factory safety values, even when put through Apex’s extensive drop-testing process which is conducted from six feet onto concrete. Also in each kit is a magazine safety delete, which when installed, allows the pistol to fire without the magazine inserted. Installing this component is optional, but Apex recommends it be used for competition purposes only. Read more

The flash-hider on the DBX was designed and machined by Diamondback to be exclusive to this series of firearms. The monolithic upper pairs with a full-length picatinny rail with no breaks so as to ensure an uninterrupted rail that eliminates any alignment issues common to multi-piece rails.

The operating system is a locked-breech, rotating bolt-head design and is run by a dual-piston gas system for cleaner operation and less gas blow-back in the user’s face when utilizing suppressors. ATF Addresses FFL Audience on Changes in ‘Frame or Receiver’ Final Ruling

HARTFORD, CT – On Tuesday, ATF executives discussed Final Rule 2021R-05, “Definition of ‘Frame or Receiver’ and Identification of Firearms,” for the first time since being finalized earlier this month. A three-hour educational session was delivered by Marvin Richardson (ATF Deputy Director), Marianna Mitchem (Chief, Firearms & Explosives Industry Division), and James Vann (Associate Chief Counsel) at the 8th annual Firearms Industry Conference hosted by Orchid and Williams Mullen’s Firearms Industry Group.

“We appreciate the ATF’s willingness to address a large cross-section of FFLs on Final Rule 2021R-05,” said Orchid CEO, Jon Rydberg “The rule becomes effective in 120 days on August 24th and will have a significant impact on manufacturing and retail firearm operations. The ruling will likely impact everything relating to firearm manufacturing, serialization, marking applications, supply chain transactions, ERP routings, electronic A&D record keeping, retail and gunsmithing transactions, suppressor manufacturing and other activities involving GCA, NFA and privately made firearms.”

The significance of the ruling warrants many additional industry education sessions, including the first session of a webinar series being hosted by Jon Rydberg and Philip Milks of Orchid and attorneys Chuck James and Camden Webb of Williams Mullen on Friday, May 6. ATF also announced they will host several virtual sessions to educate the industry on the Final Rule. Read more

Trulock Choke Tubes Shares How to Pattern Choke Tubes for Turkey Hunting

Whigham, GA (April 28, 2022) – Leave it to the choke tube specialists at Trulock® Choke Tubes providing simple steps to patterning shotguns for turkey hunting. The key, according to George Trulock, president of Trulock® Choke Tubes, is to have a very dense core with as many pellets as possible inside of a 10-inch circle. Plus, George recommends doing this from sitting and kneeling positions to better mimic a turkey hunting experience.

When is it time to pattern a shotgun? George Trulock responds, “You should pattern a shotgun when it is new to you, when you are using a different brand of ammo, or load, or size shot, and especially when using a different choke tube – even if it has the same exit diameter as a previously patterned choke.”

To pattern a shotgun for turkey hunting, the following are needed: several sheets of poster board of at least 3-4 feet wide; marking pen, up to five identical shot shells; tape measure to measure the distance from the shotgun muzzle to the target and a target stand to attach your poster board.
