USA Shooting World Championship Rifle Preview

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado   – Look for young guns and seasoned stalwarts to lead the USA Shooting Team in the Rifle events at the 52nd International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championship August 31 – September 15 in Changwon, South Korea. Twenty Olympic quotas will be up for grabs in the Rifle events and the U.S. should be poised to pocket a few, along with some hardware in South Korea.
Three-time Olympic medalist Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, New Jersey, pictured) will make his sixth World Championship appearance in Changwon where he will shoot Men’s Three-Position Rifle and Prone Rifle. Though his highest international finish this year was fourth at the World Cup in Changwon, he’s been posting world-class Qualification scores throughout 2018, including most recently shooting a score of 1182 on his second day of Qualification at the USA Shooting National Championships. Emmons will also shoot the Men’s Prone Rifle event in which he won gold in 2002, bronze in 2010 and bronze as a Junior in 1998.
With the elimination of Men’s Prone Rifle from the Olympic program, Emmons’ two-time Olympic teammate Michael McPhail(Darlington, Wisconsin/U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit) has beefed up his Three-Position Rifle game, most recently finishing just out of the Finals in 10th place at the World Cup on his home range in Fort Benning, Georgia. In the past two World Cups, he’s posted Qualification scores of 1170. At the 2014 World Championship, McPhail won bronze in Men’s 300m Prone Rifle, which he will once again compete in Changwon. In addition to these two events, McPhail will also shoot Men’s 50m Prone Rifle.
Sarah Beard (Danville, Indiana) will make her third trip to a World Championship when she heads to Changwon. Though she’s taken much of the year off from international competition due to joining the Army, she showed she’s ready for the international stage, finishing seventh at the World Cup in Fort Benning in Women’s Three-Position Rifle, as well as posting world-class scores (623.8 and 628.3) on both days of Qualification in Women’s Air Rifle at the National Championships. She’ll have lots of chances at medals as she’ll be shooting not only these events, but the Air Rifle Mixed Team event, Prone, 300m Three-Position and 300m Prone Rifle. Beard won silver in 2010 in Junior Women’s Prone Rifle in Munich, Germany. Read more

2A Armament XLR Rifle Overview

Boise, Idaho – 2A Armament has set a new bar for lightweight, high powered rifles with the finely machined XLR rifle series. Available in the extremely accurate 6.5mm Creedmoor and a .308, these AR10’s are built for serious hunters and shooting enthusiasts.

When it comes to weight, you won’t find many models that compare. The XLR20 is a 6.5mm Creedmoor weighing 6.85-pounds and the XLR18 is a .308 weighing 6.75-pounds. Both models are available in black and the XLR20 has the option for a KUIU Camo finish.

Wilson Combat: Introducing the 300 HAM’R

[ Berryville, Arkansas ] Wilson Combat is pleased to announce the availability of the all new 300 HAM’R® cartridge, rifles, loaded ammunition, barrels, components and accessories.

The 300 HAM’R® cartridge was developed by Bill Wilson for optimal terminal performance and offers near .308 Winchester effectiveness, amazing accuracy and low recoil in the lightweight and compact AR-15 platform with no reduction in magazine capacity. Terminal performance testing on over 200 Texas feral hogs has proven it to kill much more effectively than the 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, 7.62×39 or 300 Blackout.

Due to the optimization of bullet weight to barrel twist, accuracy has proven to be outstanding. Sub one-inch groups are the norm with multiple bullet choices for varying applications such as hunting, target shooting and tactical use. Undoubtedly the 300 HAM’R will be compared to the popular 300 BLACKOUT or 7.62×39 and ballistics of the 300 HAM’R far exceeds the 300 BLACKOUT and 7.62×39 in both velocity and energy when utilizing 110-150gr bullets.

300 HAM’R® ballistics even meet or exceed the ballistics of the famed 30-30 rifle cartridge with bullets in the 110-130 grain range.

A FEW OTHER FACTS ABOUT THE 300 HAM’R

      • The 300 HAM’R has 18% more retained velocity, 40% more energy and a 56% flatter trajectory than the 300 BLACKOUT at 200 yards.
      • Enhanced reliability due to the longer gas systems, 16.25” is mid-gas and the 18”/20” are intermediate gas system.
      • Any AR15 platform rifle can be converted to 300 HAM’R with a simple barrel change and the use of 300 Blackout magazines.
      • The 300 HAM’R with its 1-15 twist match grade barrel is optimized for accuracy with 110gr to 135gr bullets.
      • Factory Starline produced 300 HAM’R cases are available, but cases can be made from common and available 5.56/.223 cases.
      • The 300 HAM’R has a 300 FPS velocity and 400 FP energy advantage over the 300 BLACKOUT at the muzzle.
      • 300 HAM’R rifles and barrels are available in 16.25”, 18” and 20” lengths with different profiles.

Taurus USA Stainless G2S Semi-Auto Handgun

Maximum Concealability Without the Performance Compromise

May 2018 (Miami, FL) –Taurus USA once again pushes subcompact pistol boundaries with the all-new Taurus® G2S semi-auto handgun series. Self-defense practitioners searching for full-feature performance in a subcompact, minimal-print pistol need look no further than the Taurus® G2S.

Sharing much of the design and engineering advances with the equally new Taurus® G2C compact pistol, the G2S offers 9mm Luger and .40 S&W chambering in a more diminutive package that, unlike many subcompacts on the market, doesn’t compromise comfort, effectiveness, or operational efficiency.

With an overall width of 1.10 inches and a 4.8-inch height, the G2S satisfies the “concealed” expectations of the subcompact handgun buyer while delivering a robust grip and operational ergonomics on par with larger-frame pistols. This is due largely to the intelligently designed polymer frame and “sticky” stipling patches strategically placed along the grip. The comfortably sized trigger guard and smooth edging allows small- and large-hand shooters to achieve and maintain a solid, well-aligned grip for optimal trigger control and slide actuation. In addition to its small print, the 20.25-ounce (loaded) weight makes the G2S an easy all-day carry in a holster or purse. Read more
