Ruger Introduces SP101 in .327 Federal Magnum

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) is pleased to introduce the SP101® in .327 Federal Magnum. The Ruger® SP101 in .327 Federal Magnum is a six-round, small frame, double-action revolver with a 4.2 inch barrel and adjustable sights. Built from stainless steel, this new model features a light-gathering front sight, windage and elevation adjustable rear sight, and a rubber grip with checkered hardwood inserts.

“The SP101 has a reputation for being a very strong and reliable revolver and combining it with the powerful .327 Federal Magnum cartridge creates a perfect “kit gun” package,” said Chris Killoy, Ruger President and Chief Operating Officer. “The compact size of the SP101 makes it the ideal companion while in the woods or afield, and the longer barrel helps the .327 Federal Magnum cartridge reach its velocity potential,” he concluded.

The 29.5-ounce, SP101 can be fired in either a double-action or single-action mode, and includes Ruger’s triple locking cylinder that locks the cylinder from the front, rear and bottom for reliability and durability. The rubber grip assures positive control while reducing recoil, and the Ruger transfer bar mechanism provides a measure of security against accidental discharge. Read more

UTG Introduces New AK Stock Kits – Made in the USA

Few firearms can claim to have a career as distinguished as the original AK47 designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. AK is an icon that lives off of its reputation for ultimate reliability and functionality. To equip it with inferior accessories will just not do. Many aficionados may scoff at the idea of changing its appearance. Enter UTG. With a growing line of products dedicated to taking the classic AK platform into the next decade, we have been making accessories that do not detract from its inherent strengths, but eliminates its weaknesses.

By design, AK 47 has more in common with a machine gun than a modern sporting or battle rifle. The buttstock is sloped downward to allow controllable full auto fire, while the short sight radius is not made to take single precision shots at distance. UTG’s new adjustable stock kits are designed to bring the AK platform closer to a classic rifle profile by eliminating the large downward slope of the initial buttstock design and lining it up along the bore axis, much like a typical AR15. Since most AK variants sold in the US are semi autos, this type of conversion makes a lot of sense, and greatly enhances performance.

The first kit (RBU47KT02 – MSRP: $57.97) is dedicated for stamped receiver AK variants and made out of a high strength, impact resistant polymer stock assembly with an AR profile that features a sling loop and an additional “shark fin” style sling attachment point. The stock assembly rests on a Mil-spec 6 position aluminum extension tube that has been hardcoat anodized for wear resistance, and is permanently attached to the receiver adaptor to eliminate wobble. This design provides a better cheek rest than a standard stock and allows the user to adjust the length of pull based on his/her own preference.

Our second kit (RBU47KT03 – MSRP: $59.97), also made for stamped AK variants exclusively, has all of the same components and functionality of the previous version, but also gives the user an additional 20 mm of vertical stock adjustment via a clever multi-groove design within the adaptor interface. This feature is absolutely critical for those using scopes as it will enable a perfect cheek weld and improve overall ergonomics. If you are only willing to make one change to your AK, then this is the one we most highly recommend. If you decide to take it further, consider adding a side plate (TL-M47SR – MSRP: $8.95), a quick-detach side mount (MTU016 MSRP: $57.97), and even one of our popular handguard rail systems (MTU009 – MSRP: $74.97) just to name a few. And if you really want to take it out there, stand by for our new AK Keymod rail system (MTU027SSK MSRP: $159.97), which is currently being prepped for release. Lastly, all these key component parts are made in Michigan, USA, for you to easily stay 922R compliant. Read more

Chiappa’s Fun Mfour-22 Carbine

MKS Supply, LLC, Dayton OH- Mfour .22 LR Rimfire carbine is a great and low cost fun firearm. The high quality Chiappa Mfour carbine is almost identical to the 5.56/.223 carbine and an ideal serious practice platform for the larger caliber carbine.

Sure, in these days of nearly everyone having at least 5,000 rounds of .22LR ammunition ratted away and seeking more it serves to dry up the market for many. Regardless of the short supply, a box of fifty rounds of .22LR is still a lot less money to shoot than twenty rounds of 5.56 or .223 and probably more fun too boot.

The accurate military lookalike Chiappa Mfour carbine is a serious platform to keep skills up for transition to its larger caliber center cousins. The Chiappa Mfour is a bunch of fun to shoot and for many it also serves as a serious survival gun.

Chiappa’s Mfour comes with a dual-aperture adjustable iron sight detachable carry handle and picatinney flat top for optics. High-quality precision made .22LRs regardless of brand or type are as expensive (many times more) to manufacture as their larger caliber brothers-but what you get is a quality firearm that will deliver reliability and accuracy. Ninth Circuit Orders Rehearing of Pair of Key 2A Cases

A majority vote of the judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will result in the rehearing of a pair of landmark Second Amendment cases in California. According to Chief Judge Thomas, the earlier three-judge panel opinion “shall not be cited as precedent by or to any court of the Ninth Circuit.” The cases, Richards v. Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto and Peruta v San Diego both challenged the unusually restrictive requirements for concealed carry permits. The rulings from the 3-judge panels had led to softening of concealed carry restrictions and brought a petition to intervene on behalf of the counties from California Attorney General Kamala Harris. The petition from AG Harris is still pending.

The Predator Choke from Trulock is ‘Coyote Perfect’

There is ‘coyote ugly’ and then there is ‘coyote perfect,’ which is what the new Trulock Predator shotgun choke is when it comes to knocking down song dogs. When the goal is to cleanly kill a 40- or 50-pound coyote with a shotgun at 40 yards, you need a tight pattern with some knockdown power. That’s what the new Predator Choke from Trulock delivers.

The Predator Choke embodies all the tight patterning attributes of Trulock’s proven turkey and waterfowl chokes. Trulock recommends that the individual predator hunter spend some time patterning his or her shotgun with different loads to figure out what load will deliver the greatest knockdown punch at common distances for shooting varmints.

Contrary to what some beginning predator hunters might think, 00 buckshot is usually not a good coyote load no matter what choke you use. With 00, you have big pellets, but just nine of them, and unless you’re at extreme close range, you’re not likely to deliver a killing dose of them at longer range. Just a 40-yard shot can result in missing the canine varmint altogether or just putting a pellet or two into the dog’s outer extremities.

Depending on the shotgun make, No. 4 buck, No. 2 buck or T shot paired with the new Predator Choke will put the largest number of pellets at higher energy into that same animal at that same distance. Read more

Gaston J. Glock Style Introduces Knives From Three of Dave Sevigny’s Championship Pistol Barrels

Smyrna, GA – There are many words that spring to mind when discussing the popular “Glock” line of pistols, but “beautiful” and “artistic” are not often among them. Yet that’s exactly what the craftsmen at GASTON J. GLOCK style LP, in conjunction with famed blacksmith Balbach, have produced by hammering three barrels from world champion shooter Dave Sevigny’s Glocks into stunning Damascus-style knives.

These aren’t just any barrels, either. Two of the three barrels were used to win USPSA national championships by Sevigny, and the third is the barrel from his primary practice and training gun during his championship run. The same barrels that were key to his pistol’s reliability and accuracy are now some of the finest knives money can buy. And there are only three. Read more
