STI Introduces Two New Competition Pistols

DVC Limited Model

DVC Open Model

Designed around the concept of Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas, the motto of the I.P.S.C (International Practical Shooting Confederation) – meaning Accuracy, Power, Speed, the new DVC Limited and Open competition pistols are designed to win matches right out of the box.

Both pistols are an entirely new design based off of the tried and true 2011 and are built specifically for competitive shooting. The guns feature a wider than standard frame with a full length dust cover with added cuts for style and balance. An all new sear design breaks like glass at a clean 2-2.5 pounds. The grip has been hand textured, reduced and undercut by Extreme Shooters in Havasu City, Arizona. All steel parts have been hard chromed for maximum durability in all situations. The guide rod is a Dawson Precision tool-less and the DVC models are the first factory guns to employ this innovation. Another first for STI is that both DVC pistols come with two 140mm magazines each. The 5″ precision fit bull barrels have been coated with Titanium Nitride for optimized hardness, lubricity and longevity.

On the Limited model, weight has been removed from the slide to help keep the gun balanced, increase cycle rate, and reduce forward recoil. The front sight is a Dawson Precision fiber optic and the rear is fully adjustable. Available in 9mm and .40 S&W the DVC limited makes a perfect 3-Gun, U.S.P.S.A. or I.P.S.C gun. MSRP is $2,799. SAF Lawsuit Allowed Chicago Uber Driver to Carry, Defend Self, Others

BELLEVUE, WA — A defensive shooting incident in Chicago involving a legally-armed Uber driver who intervened when a gunman opened fire on a crowd in Logan Square could not have happened without a concealed carry law that was passed by the Illinois Legislature because of a federal lawsuit brought by the Second Amendment Foundation.

No charges will be filed against the unidentified Uber driver, who used his licensed handgun to stop the alleged shooter, a 22-year-old man who now faces criminal prosecution. SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb noted that, had this armed citizen not been present, this incident could have turned out much differently, and much worse. Read more

Moms with Guns to Highlight Concealed Carry Expo

How does your average, everyday mom go from teaching college level critical-thinking classes to teaching firearms classes? Beth Alcazar, USCCA writer, instructor, and author of the “Pacifiers & Peacemakers” column, will share her compelling story at the upcoming USCCA Concealed Carry Expo, May 8-10, 2015. This first-ever event, located at the Washington County Fair Park in West Bend, Wis., plans to bring together all aspects of the concealed-carry industry, including the fast-growing women’s segment.

“The firearms industry is no longer just a ‘boy’s club,'” Beth states. “And moms with guns are becoming the new norm, with women accounting for 37 percent of new shooting participants.”
Appropriate for the Mother’s-Day-weekend event, and in complete opposition to the anti-gun groups that degrade and demean women, Alcazar plans to share a presentation titled, “Concealed Carry for Moms: Breaking the Mold.” Accompanied by statistics, trends and real-world examples, she’ll share what spurs her passion to pursue the concealed-carry lifestyle and be a responsibly armed woman… and why other moms can – and should – follow the same course. Alcazar will also be teaching a WI Concealed Carry Permit Course at the expo FREE to mothers on Mother’s Day. Read more

Firearms Industry Economic Impact Rises 125% Since 2008

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The total economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry in the United States increased from $19.1 billion in 2008 to $42.9 billion in 2014, a 125 percent increase, while the total number of full-time equivalent jobs* rose from approximately 166,000 to more than 263,000, a 58 percent increase in that period, according to a new report released today by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the industry’s trade association.

“We have seen continued dramatic growth in the firearms and ammunition industry that is the direct result of consumer demand for our products since 2008,” said Stephen L. Sanetti, NSSF president and chief executive officer. “In our nation’s economic recovery since that year, our industry has been a standout, increasing our direct workforce by 78 percent, adding jobs that pay an average of more than $52,000 in wages and benefits. Wildlife conservation is the real winner here, as we increased federal tax payments by 108 percent, Pittman-Robertson excise taxes that support wildlife conservation by 145 percent and state business taxes by 106 percent. And gratifyingly, throughout this period of growth, both criminal and accidental misuses of firearms continued to drop.”

The Firearms and Ammunition Industry Economic Impact Report: 2014 provides a state by state breakdown of job numbers, wages and output covering direct, supplier and induced employment, as well as federal excise taxes paid. Access the full report here.
