Concealed Pistol Unholstered to Stop Crime

A customer with a concealed pistol license in a Royal Oak market parking lot appears to have prevented a knife-wielding man from harming people. David Harold Shuten, 43, of Madison Heights, was arrested there Monday on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and was forced to remain on the scene at gunpoint until police arrived. Cannonball Kills Woman

POTRERO, Calif. (AP) — California authorities indicate a 33-year-old San Diego County woman was killed by a cannonball fired by her husband and another man.  U-T San Diego reports the woman was found dead at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after the ball slammed into her home at the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park in Potrero,near the Mexican border.  State fire Capt. Mike Mohler says the men told authorities they were working on the cannon nearby when it went off. and one man was treated at a hospital for injuries he suffered when the cannon went off.
