Magpul Releases Hunter Lite Stock – Savage AXIS Short Action

Built with advanced features and enhanced ergonomics, the Hunter Lite Stock– Savage AXIS Short Action stock can be used by both left and right-handed shooters by simply swapping out an inlet insert on the stock. The extruded aluminum V-bedding block utilizes reinforced steel pillars to prevent compression and deformation while shooting. The buttstock and forend have integral sling swivel studs and M-LOK slots for use with a variety of slings and bipods. The stock can also be adjusted for LOP via removable half-inch spacers, and comb height can be modified using the included snap-on cheek riser.

Hillsdale College Announces Upcoming USA Shooting Junior Olympic Development Camp Dates

The Hillsdale College John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center will host 2024’s Junior Oympic Development Camps. The camps, which are open to intermediate-to-advanced trap and skeet shooters ages 12-20, will take place from July 14 to 19 (Trap) and from July 21 to 26 (Skeet).

The Junior Olympic Development Camps are designed to help promising young shooters advance in the Olympic shotgun disciplines, providing Olympic hopefuls with advanced training from national team members, former Olympians, and world champions. “These are some of the most promising young shooters in the country — maybe even the world,” said Caitlin Connor Royer, assistant program development and competition manager for Hillsdale College’s Halter Center and multi-time World Cup Medalist. “These camps provide them with the coaching and mentorship they need to take it to the next level. USA Shooting is already one of the top programs in the world. Events like this ensure it will become even stronger.”

Following each camp, the Halter Center will host the Junior Olympic Championships for each respective discipline, meaning camp attendees —should they choose to compete — will have the opportunity to test their mettle against one another on the national stage. Read more

NRA Defends Freedom in U.S. Supreme Court Argument

The NRA’s commitment to freedom was on full display again this week.

On Monday, March 18, the Court heard oral arguments in the NRA v. Maria T. Vullo case, one of the nation’s most-important First Amendment matters. Vullo is the former financial regulator in New York who tried to “financially blacklist” the NRA in 2018.

The NRA argues that Vullo, at the behest of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, took aim at the NRA and used the regulatory power of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) to financially blacklist the NRA—coercing banks and insurers to avoid ties with the Association in order to suppress its pro-Second Amendment speech.

The NRA argues that Vullo’s actions were meant to silence the NRA by using “guidance letters,” backroom threats and other measures to cause financial institutions to “drop” the Association.

In response, on May 11, 2018, the NRA filed suit to enjoin the campaign and for money damages. After winning in the trial court, the NRA’s case was dismissed by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York. Thereafter, the Association took its case to the highest court in the land. The NRA is joined by the ACLU, legal experts, constitutional scholars and 25 states in opposing Vullo’s actions.

ACLU National Legal Director and NRA counsel David Cole argued on Monday that Vullo and other New York officials abused their authority in violation of the First Amendment, telling the justices: “There’s no question on this record that they encouraged people to punish the NRA.” Cole said, “It was a campaign by the state’s highest political officials to use their power to coerce a boycott of a political advocacy organization because they disagreed with its advocacy.” Read more
