Michigan House Judiciary Committee to Consider Repeal of Handgun Permit-to-Purchase and Registration

The Michigan House Judiciary Committee is reviewing an important and long-overdue bill that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. Although a date has not been announced, House Bill 5225 will be heard in the House Judiciary Committee sometime after the spring recess. Read more

Cabela’s donates more than $10,000 to USA Shooting Team

Cabela’s and its customers teamed up recently to raise nearly $11,000 for the USA Shooting Team to help with preparations for the 2012 Olympics this summer in London, England.   During a Spring Great Outdoor Days promotion, Cabela’s pledged a $2 donation to the USA Shooting Team for each case of Winchester Super Target shotshell ammunition sold. Cabela’s customers purchased more than 5,000 cases of the ammunition, nearly doubling internal expectations for the event.

Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger

The rule is “Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.” During the act of placing a handgun in a holster the muzzle is, by definition, off of the target. It’s essential to keep the trigger guard clear as the pistol is placed into the holster.

The picture depicts a polymer holster into which a gunshot was fired. The expended round shown in the picture is nicely expanded. It was found on the ground near the shooter who holstered the autopistol with finger on the trigger. It clearly passed through the shooter’s leg before coming to rest on the ground.

Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
