In New York this week, the U.N. Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty continued trying to draft a treaty to impose worldwide controls on small arms, including civilian-owned firearms.

LAS VEGAS – The U.S. Navy SEAL who was convicted last fall of multiple felony weapons charges, including dealing in stolen firearms, was sentenced today to 17½ years in federal prison and three years of supervised release, announced Daniel G. Early Canada goose season will be similar to last year, as the Natural Resources Commission (NRC) adopted regulations at its regular monthly meeting last Thursday at Harsens Island.
The season will be Sept. 1-10 in the Upper Peninsula and Huron, Saginaw and Tuscola counties; and Sept. 1-15 in the remainder of the state. The daily bag limit is five. Read more

This Wednesday, July 18, the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a special hearing on legislation to repeal Michigan’s “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements for handguns. House Bill 5225, which seeks to replace the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” requirement with the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, has already passed in the state House of Representatives by an overwhelming 74 to 36 vote on June 13. Additionally, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear the two companion bills to HB 5225, House Bill 5498 and House Bill 5499, both of which also passed the state House and were sent to the Senate last month. Sean Combs was arrested April 12 after police found him with the M1 carbine strapped to his back walking the streets in Birmingham, Michigan. So, the cops arrested him and charged him with brandishing a weapon, among other charges. As mentioned in an earlier post, carrying does not equal brandishing. A jury agreed here…
