HSUS for Uninformed Simpletons
Over at Western Outdoor News, Bill Karr writes about an ongoing HSUS-manufactured “scandal” in California. The head of the state’s Fish and Game Commission went and recently hunted a mountain lion in Idaho. The catch? Mountain lion hunting has been off limits in California for the past few decades. It’s legal in Idaho, but HSUS’s fur is flying anyway. Read more

Utah Looks to Up the Ante on Coyote Bounties
The Utah Senate voted 23-5 to pass SB25 to increase bounties on coyotes to $50 each, up from about $20 in most counties.
If the bill is also passed by the House, it is hoped it will encourage hunters to kill 20,000 or more of the animals. Of course, the Humane Society of Utah opposes the plan here…
MDF Applauds Gov. Mead for Wyoming Wolf Plan
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) came out in strong support today of Gov. Matt Mead and the Wyoming Legislature for decisive action Monday regarding Senate File 41, which will allow for state management of the gray wolf population in Wyoming. Read more
Aerial Control of Alaska’s Bears
The Alaska Board of Game has approved the use of aerial bear control to increase the numbers of moose for residents. “All bears within the 540 square mile area will be removed, but that total will include many more black bears than grizzlies,” Fish and Game spokeswoman Cathie Harms wrote in an email.
