Ruffed Grouse Society to host field trial in Mesick, MI

The LeGrand Traverse Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will host a Spring Fun Trial on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Thundering Aspens Hunting Preserve, 4612A N. 5 Road, Mesick, MI, beginning at 8 a.m., rain or shine.
According to Ric Heller, the entry fee is $45 per pointing and/or flushing breed, with each running on the same course with the same judges. All registrants must be a RGS member to participate. (Memberships available on site).
The event is limited to the first 34 entries and all entries must be submitted no later then April 27th. Entry fee includes lunch.
Two birds will be set out in each brace, and all dogs must be void of any electronic devices (Beeper collars ok). Ribbons will be awarded. Participants must wear hunter orange and have a valid Michigan hunting license. The top 4 placements will go on to the RGS Michigan “Gun Dog of the Year Trial on November 25, 2012 in Zeeland, MI

Proceeds from this event will be used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat.
