100,000 Kids in the Outdoors has a unique, but simple, concept. Their goal is to encourage folks to do something that doesn’t require a huge time investment or cost: invite a child into the outdoors. The organization started when co-founder Shannon Young met Phil McAmis and read his story about his son Zac, who passed away at the age of 14. Phil and Zac were avid outdoorsmen and Phil was seeking a cause to dedicate to his son. Phil and Shannon soon devised a plan if they could get their neighbor’s kids outside, why not go further and ask 100,000 kids outdoors?
“I came across 100,000 Kids in the Outdoors through Facebook, and my relationship with the founder, Shannon Young, has grown exponentially,” said Hartle. “What these guys are doing is selfless, commendable and real.”
