Long-Term Service to Sportsmen Recognized
GW: As a proud member of USSA, I applaud the recognition given to USSA.
Thirty-five years of service to sportsmen and women. |
Based in Columbus, Ohio, USSA began battling lawsuits and ballot initiatives filed by anti-hunting and anti-trapping groups focused on ending trapping in Ohio in 1977. The following year the USSA was officially formed and has since worked in all 50 states on numerous critical issues.
In recent years the top challenges have included fighting the Humane Society of the United States and other groups over puppy mill bills or backdoor attempts to reduce and end the use of dogs in hunting. The USSA has also spearheaded efforts in the U.S. Congress to protect hunting and trapping on U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management tracts across America. The USSA won an 8-year battle to protect hunting on national wildlife refuges in 2011.
