Mild Weather Inviting to Target Shooters

It’s winter, but tomorrow and Saturday it will feel like spring with 50+ degree temperatures forecast for southern Michigan. Visit the DNR shooting ranges to target shoot the guns you received over the holidays. The Sharonville (Jackson County) and Rose Lake (Clinton County) range hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Ortonville (Lapeer County) and Pontiac Lake (Oakland County) range hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are range fees at Ortonville and Pontiac Lake, but there is no fee at Rose Lake and Sharonville.

Ortonville has new 200- and 10-yard ranges, and Rose Lake has a new 10-yard range. Pontiac Lake and Sharonville have temporary target backers at 10 yards for handgun enthusiasts. All were built in 2012. Visit the DNR shooting range website at www.michigan.gov/shootingranges for updated information and photos.

Please note the DNR-staffed ranges will be closed on Monday, January 21, for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Have fun shooting at the DNR ranges, and thanks for your support!
