SIG SAUER® Donates $25,000 to Pease Greeters Organization
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (July 16, 2013) – SIG SAUER®, is pleased to announce a $25,000 donation to the Pease Greeters organization to help support the group’s work in welcoming servicemen and women who pass through the Pease International Airport heading overseas or returning home.
“Too often in our history, the American soldier has left and returned to his or her home soil with no notice, fanfare or welcome,” said Ron Cohen, SIG SAUER President and Chief Executive Officer. “Thanks to these volunteers, our fighting men and women know that we appreciate them and the sacrifices they are making in our country’s name.”
The company’s involvement with the Pease Greeters doesn’t stop with this donation. As SIG SAUER completes its expansion into the nearby Pease Tradeport, it will launch a program designed to help its employees get involved as Pease Greeter volunteers.
Since its inception, the Pease Greeters have met more than 600 flights and welcomed more than 150,000 troops while providing countless other services. In addition to being greeted by hundreds of volunteers, military personnel are treated to complimentary coffee, snacks, and free phone banks. Each serviceman and woman receives a star from a retired U.S. flag, to serve as a reminder that they are in the hearts and minds of a grateful nation.
To date, the Pease Greeters have shipped more than 40,000 pounds of toiletries, food, and personal items to our troops around the world. The organization has recently been nominated for two prestigious Department of Defense Humanitarian Awards by Patrol Squadron Four VP-4 of the United States Navy.
