Enter Essay Contest for a Chance to Win a Leica Trinovid 42 Binocular
To celebrate young birders and the adults who inspire and encourage them, Leica Sport Optics and Birdwatching magazine are holding an essay contest. Two winners will each receive a Leica Trinovid 42 binocular.
Young birders and adult mentors to young birders are eligible to enter now through June 30, 2014.
Adult birders (age 22 or older on June 30, 2014) are encouraged to write a short essay describing a memorable birding experience while mentoring one or more young birders. Young birders (age 21 or younger on June 30, 2014) should write about a memorable birding experience with an adult mentor.
A superstar panel of Leica Birding Team members and Birdwatching editors will read and judge the entries, selecting two winners – one from each category.
The adult winner will be awarded a new Leica Trinovid 42 binocular. The youth winner will receive the Traveling Trinovid, which was used through 2013 by renowned birders, such as Kenn Kaufman, Pete Dunne, Victor Emanuel, Don and Lillian Stokes and others. The Traveling Trinovid was on-site for both the second U.S. record of Amazon Kingfisher and the first record of Eurasion Sparrowhawk. It is also the same binocular that Neil Haward used in December 2014 to break the ABA Big Year record.
