NRA Ad Campaign Exposes the Real Michael Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg is not having the success in burying the NRA that he expected when he announced his $50 million campaign against the Second Amendment and the formation of his gun control umbrella group, Everytown for Gun Safety.

As we reported last week, his investment in Milwaukee to defeat pro-gun Sheriff David Clarke failed in spite of the huge infusion of cash Bloomberg provided to promote Clarke’s anti-gun opponent. This defeat, on top of the recall of Colorado state senators last year, shows the inherent weakness of Bloomberg’s operation: it has no real grassroots support, just money and bluster.

To make things worse for the former mayor, NRA has launched a national effort aimed at exposing Michael Bloomberg’s anti-freedom agenda. The “Meet the Real Michael Bloomberg” advertising campaign kicked off this week with a television advertisement titled “Insult.”  “Insult” is the first in a series of ads that will highlight Bloomberg’s hypocrisy, arrogance and desire to control the lives of ordinary Americans.

“Insult”

Nobody insults your life like Michael Bloomberg. Billionaire, elitist, hypocrite. He’s tried to ban your snack foods, your soda and most of all your guns. Bloomberg said the largest county in Colorado is “as far rural as you can get. I don’t think there’s roads there.” That’s what he thinks of your state too. Tell Bloomberg to keep his politics in NY and his hands off our guns and our freedom.

“Michael Bloomberg has declared war on the NRA and our five million members. We will not sit back and let him use his billions of dollars to impose his radical anti-freedom agenda on the American people. Our effort will expose Bloomberg as an arrogant hypocrite who thinks he knows best how people should live their lives,” said Chris W. Cox, Executive Director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action.

Bloomberg clearly believes that he knows best how the rest of us should think and behave and what freedoms we should be allowed to exercise. He also believes that his money will be enough to buy the hearts and minds of the American people. His track record shows that both these beliefs are wrong.

“Insult” highlights Bloomberg’s disdain for those who reject his nanny state policies. The ad debuts with an initial six-figure buy on cable television nationwide and on broadcast stations in Colorado.  This will accompany a six-figure digital and social media campaign in Iowa, Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada, Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia. The effort will expand to additional states in the coming weeks and months.

The launch of the “Meet the Real Michael Bloomberg” series, coming on the heels of his rebuke by the voters in the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s election, should be a clear sign to gun owners that while Bloomberg and his billions are a real and significant threat, it is one we can defeat if we stand together.
