Colt Wiley Clapp Models Available Through TALO Distribution Network

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Colt’s Manufacturing Company, one of the world’s leading designers, developers and manufacturers of firearms, in conjunction with Wiley Clapp and TALO Distributors, announces all three exclusive Wiley Clapp handguns are now available at independent sporting goods and gun shops serviced by TALO. The two original Wiley Clapp models are the O4840WC Lightweight Commander® and the O1911WC Government Model®. Clapp’s newest edition to his specialty line of Colt handguns is the O9840WC Concealed Carry Officers Model®.

“The first Colt-TALO-Wiley Clapp model was a Lightweight Commander, the best go-anywhere, do anything .45 ever made. Next came a classic 1911 of the style beloved by a century of handgunners,” said Clapp. “Popular models both, but sensibly upgraded with Novak® sights, Tactical Oval grips and Pete Single checkering to become modern classics.”

The Wiley Clapp Colt series began in 2010, when Colt asked Clapp to design what he considered to be the ideal features for a working man’s handgun that would be accurate and reliable of out the box. The three models share many of the same basic features, including the Series 70™ firing system and match grade barrel. Another important feature for ease-of-use and reliability is the Novak brass bead front sight and extra wide black rear sight. Handling and grip are enhanced with unique oval finger print grips and Pete Single precision CNC checkering on the front strap, magwell and mainspring housing.

“The newest edition is a compact powerhouse,” said Clapp. “This is a gun with all the family features, but optimized for the concealed carry role.”

The new Concealed Carry Officers Model is ideal for personal protection, with design features that are extremely friendly to holster and concealed carry. It is a special combination of the 4.25-inch Commander slide on a Lightweight Officer’s frame. The heel of the frame and mainspring housing is rounded for extra comfort when carrying concealed and shooting. Another feature for enhanced user comfort is a generous high cut under the trigger guard that blends the front strap checkering to the meeting of the trigger guard. This allows the firearm to sit low in the user’s hand. The pistol has a National Match® barrel, blued carbon steel slide and an original style, long solid trigger.

Unique to the second handgun in the series, the O1911WC, is the all carbon steel frame and slide. Special features of the O4840WC include an alloy receiver for lighter weight and easier carry. It has a blued carbon steel slide and 4.25-inch barrel.
