SAF Launches National Media Effort To Battle Obama Gun Control
BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation yesterday launched a nationwide television and radio effort to prevent President Barack Obama from using executive action to erode the right to keep and bear arms, which is the embodiment of a current plan by his Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to ban ammunition for the most popular firearm in America today.
“Last week,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, “our general counsel warned in a letter to the BATFE that if it goes ahead with its plan to ban the popular M855 ammunition for modern sport-utility rifles, we would take court action.
“Today,” he added, “we’re firing up American gun owners at the grassroots level to send a message that should be loud and clear: Keep your hands off our guns, ammunition and our right to keep and bear arms.”
SAF this morning released a one-minute message to radio and television stations that revealed the organization has a plan to stand up to the Obama administration. The first phase is the media campaign launched that will be heard and seen across the country.
“The president has long supported a ban on semiautomatic rifles and their magazines,” Gottlieb observed. “Now his administration is going after the ammunition. Evidently, they’ve decided that rifles and magazines won’t be a problem if people have no ammunition to put in them.”
SAF’s national media campaign asks people to simply call a toll-free number (800) 413-4643. This will allow callers to send their message to Obama, and support the SAF media campaign.
“There are less than two years remaining in Barack Obama’s presidency,” Gottlieb said. “He’s scrambling to create a legacy, and a big part of that is effort is to establish himself as the man who brought restrictive gun control to America. He has weakened our military, eroded our diplomatic credibility and now he’s scrambling to destroy the Second Amendment. We’re giving Americans the voice to stop him.”
