Redding Offers Solutions for 22TCM

Cortland, NY…….The 22 TCM is an interesting new cartridge in the long gun scene and handloaders are excited to get going on load development.

A recent article in Handloader Magazine has laid a good foundation with a number of powders and bullets available. The author used Redding dies in 22 TCM which we announced earlier this year but he found that even very minor variations in powder charges, as little as 2 tenths of a grain, had major implications with velocity and observed pressure. When 10 grains may be a max charge for a given powder and bullet weight combination, precision is critical for accuracy and safe operation. Traditional broad spectrum powder measures that operate from 5 grains to 100 grains are least accurate and repeatable at the extreme ends of their range.
Redding addresses this issue by offering their Competition Model 10x Powder measure, which was specifically designed as a “bench rest” quality measure originally intended for the handgun silhouette market. The 10x is a dedicated small case measure with an operating range from approximately 1 grain to 25 grains of powder, putting the needed loads for the 22 TCM in the middle, and therefore the “Sweet Spot” of its operating range. This makes it the perfect match for the 22 TCM as well as other small case capacity rifle cartridges like the 22 and 17 Hornet.

The 10x included features are:
• Micrometer adjusting metering chamber with hemispherical cup
•Cast iron and hard chrome construction
•Backlash eliminating micrometer for repeatability
•Adjustable powder baffle
•Positive metering chamber lock
