Lightfield 16 Ga Slugs

ADELPHIA, NJ – There is no doubt some slug gun hunters march to the beat of a different drummer. For those individuals, Lightfield developed its 16 gauge 2 ¾-inch Commander IDA Plus shells.Utilizing the patented technology that goes into all of Lightfield’s Commander line of shells, these shells will outperform any other shell on the market.

“We loaded these shells with a 1 ounce (537 grain) 66 caliber slug that produces 2,125 foot/pounds of pressure at the muzzle and retains 1,095 foot/pounds of pressure 100 yards downrange,” said Brian Smith, national director of sales. “Our Commander IDS Plus line of slugs is explicitly designed for deep penetration and controlled expansion on game animals that exceed 300 pounds,” he said.

Muzzle velocities with the Commander IDS Plus line of shells are greater than those in the Hybred line of shells, even though the Commander IDS slugs are 600 grains versus the 546 grain slugs in the Hybred line.
Just as like the Hybred line, the post/pressure wad stays locked to the slug all the way to impact with the target. “This stabilizes the slug during flight and eliminates tumbling increasing accuracy at greater distances,” Smith said.

The sabot on the IDS is one piece that surrounds the slug and will not discard until target impact. “This design aids in the controlled expansion and deeper penetration,” he said. For additional information and to learn more about Lightfield products, visit the company website at www.litfld.com.
