Michigan: Wolf Lake Fish Cam Offers Live View of Fish

CarbonTV has introduced a live webcam from the Show Pond at the Department of Natural Resources’ Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center. The Wolf Lake Fish Cam offers a real-time, round-the-clock view of Chinook salmon, steelhead trout, northern pike, northern muskellunge, walleye, largemouth bass, a variety of sunfish and two 6-foot lake sturgeon as they fend for food.

“This is a really cool opportunity to see and connect with the thousands of Michigan gamefish that live in our Show Pond anytime, from anywhere,” said Shana Ramsey, interpreter at Wolf Lake. “Get an up-close look at fish in their natural habitat, right from your own home!”

Ramsey said that Carbon Media has partnered with the Michigan DNR on other projects, including the live Eagle Cam at the Platte River State Fish Hatchery, which has been wildly successful.

“We looked at the success of that project and thought it would be the perfect fit to do something similar here on our Show Pond, which is the No. 1 attraction at Wolf Lake,” she said.

The Wolf Lake Hatchery Visitor Center, located on the grounds of the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery in Mattawan, Michigan, is dedicated to providing quality programming that tells the remarkable tale of Michigan’s Great Lakes fisheries and the vital role played by hatcheries. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the opportunity to learn about a variety of fish species, their life cycles and habitats and how the DNR works to protect and conserve Michigan’s lakes, rivers and streams to maintain a world-class fishery.
