2017 Southwest Nationals Long Range Match Underway

Competitors taking best shot at BASF’s 1,000-yard range

PHOENIX — More than 350 long-range competitive shooters from the U.S. and several foreign nations will be competing through Sunday at the 2017 Southwest Nationals Long Range at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in north Phoenix.

It’s world-class shooting at a world-class facility. The Arizona Game and Fish Department built the 1,000-yard range, featuring 100 shooting stations, well-maintained firing lines and additional wind flags, to provide a first-class recreational shooting experience. In 2015, California-based Berger Bullets donated a new multipurpose building, while Nightforce Optics paid for the expansion of the parking area. Desert Sharpshooters Rifle Club hosts the event.

The Grand Aggregate runs Friday through Sunday to include as many competitive shooters as possible. Team matches are scheduled for Saturday, with additional awards given for the combined Team Aggregate. The Grand Aggregate is comprised of a palma match and four 1,000-yard matches. A schedule of events is available online.

As match sponsors, Berger Bullets will provide more than $3,500 in cash prizes and more than 30,000 bullets in awards.

Admission is free. For more information, visit http://www.bergerbullets.com/swn/info/.
