The Sportsmen’s Alliance has launched the Pledge to Protect Hunting campaign to unify sportsmen and counter the lies and misinformation spread by anti-hunting organizations like the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The Sportsmen’s Alliance Pledge to Protect Hunting is a direct counter-effort to combat HSUS’ “Pledge to End Trophy Hunting.”
“Now, more than ever, sportsmen need to engage in the issues affecting the future of hunting,” said Sean Curran, vice president of membership and corporate partnerships. “The entire hunting experience from start to finish is the trophy, and our Pledge to Protect Hunting highlights just a fraction of the reasons why all sportsmen need to stand together and pledge to protect our outdoor traditions.”
The use of the word “trophy” is an intentional tactic animal-rights organizations use to garner media headlines and effectively sway public opinion when it comes to ending any hunting method, season or for any species.
With an average budget of more than $150 million, the Humane Society of the United States is the largest anti-hunting and animal-rights organization in the world. The radical, yet socially acceptable, organization is behind a majority of the attacks the Sportsmen’s Alliance fights in state legislatures nationwide every year. HSUS also funds a disproportionate number of legal challenges in the state and federal court systems, while simultaneously bankrolling ballot initiatives to end hunting.
Sportsmen are encouraged to sign the pledge on the Sportsmen’s Alliance website and to share their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter content with friends to spread awareness and a positive social-media message that highlights why hunting is so important to each of us, and why its future is being decided right now.
