MI DNR auction of state-managed land runs through Feb. 10

A sealed-bid auction of 23 properties managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources began Tuesday at www.michigan.gov/landforsale and will run through Feb. 10. Available parcels are located in Alpena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Crawford, Gladwin, Mackinac and St. Clair counties. Properties are isolated from other DNR-managed land and range in size from less than an acre to 240 acres.

View the properties offered for bid at the DNR’s Land Sale website. Printable bid forms are available under the “Bid Form” tab, which is found with each parcel listing. Sealed bids must be postmarked by midnight Feb. 10 to be considered. Sealed bids are retained in a locked area and will be opened Feb. 22 in a witnessed bid opening.

This website also includes information on available properties that went unsold in previous auctions.

Printed property information may be requested from the DNR Real Estate Services Section, P.O. Box 30448, Lansing, MI 48909-7948. For general information about the sale of surplus, state-managed public land, contact Patricia Harlow at 517-284-5940.

Most properties offered at auction were acquired through tax reversion; the proceeds provide future outdoor recreation opportunities in keeping with the mission of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
