On July 2nd, animal rights groups launched a petition drive to stop the state from controlling the growing wolf population.  If enough signatures are gathered, Michigan voters will decide on November 4, 2014, whether to overturn Senate Bill 288, which granted authority to designate game species to the state Natural Resources Commission.  The anti-hunting coalition, called Keep Michigan Wolves Protected, is backed by the nation’s most powerful animal rights organization, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The Humane Society of the United States has come under fire for getting a “D” grade from the charity watchdog American Institute of Philanthropy. AIP finds that HSUS spends up to 50 percent of its budget on overhead and spends up to 48 cents to raise every dollar.

Washington, DC – Today, experts on the status of the African lion explained to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) that the African lion is not on the brink of extinction. Their testimony contradicts the claims in a petition filed by several anti-rights groups asking the service to list the African lion as endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Read more
