CMMG Reveals Latest Innovation – The MkG45 GUARD

Boonville, MO – CMMG has announced the release of the MkG45 GUARD – a new AR15 rifle chambered in the iconic .45 ACP caliber. The GUARD is offered in five different configurations, operates on CMMG’s new, patent pending Radial Delayed Blowback system and is fed from Glock magazines.

“With the GUARD, we set out to engineer an affordable, highly reliable AR chambered in .45 ACP that would use the widely-available Glock magazines. In the early stages of design, we tested out a variety of different operating systems, including straight blowback and direct impingement, but none of those options gave us the reliability we were looking for. We ultimately came up with the design for the Radial Delayed Blowback system and from there, all the pieces started falling into place,” said Chris Reinkemeyer, CEO/CFO at CMMG. Read more

MI DNR advises caution to prevent spread of oak wilt disease

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents they can help prevent the spread of oak wilt disease this spring. April 15 marks the beginning of the yearly window when oak wilt can be transmitted from diseased to healthy red oak trees.According to Roger Mech, Forest Health program specialist for the DNR Forest Resources Division, oak wilt is a serious disease of oak trees that mainly affects red oaks, including northern red oak, black oak and pin oak. Red oaks often die within a few weeks after becoming infected. White oaks are more resistant; therefore, the disease progresses more slowly.

“The normal time-tested advice is to prevent oak wilt by not pruning or otherwise ‘injuring’ oaks from April 15 to July 15,” Mech said. Read more

Legal FAQ:  Use of Deadly Force in Michigan

This past week, MLive covered several cases of potential unjustified shootings in Michigan by otherwise legal gun owners.  This has led many people to ask us at Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO) when they may use a firearm in self defense.  The relevant section in Michigan law is MCL 780.972.  It reads:
780.972 Use of deadly force by individual not engaged in commission of crime; conditions.

Sec. 2.
(1) An individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses deadly force may use deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if either of the following applies:
(a) The individual honestly and reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the imminent death of or imminent great bodily harm to himself or herself or to another individual.
(b) The individual honestly and reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the imminent sexual assault of himself or herself or of another individual.
(2) An individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses force other than deadly force may use force other than deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if he or she honestly and reasonably believes that the use of that force is necessary to defend himself or herself or another individual from the imminent unlawful use of force by another individual.
