APOPKA, Fla. – Spike’s Tactical, a Florida-based gun and weapons manufacturer, announced Wednesday the issuance of U.S. Patent 9,879,933 by the U.S. Patent Office for Spike’s Recluse, a single stamp, integrally suppressed, 9mm Armalite Rifle (AR) upper receiver.

A critical benefit to Spike’s pistol-caliber carbine (PCC) is the weapon being interchangeable with Glock and Colt 9mm magazines. According to Glock’s website, the Glock 17, a 9x19mm handgun, is the most widely used law enforcement pistol worldwide. The Recluse allows for law enforcement to use the same ammunition and magazine in their rifle as their common sidearms.

“We’re very excited about receiving this patent,” said Randy Myers, the inventor behind Spike’s Recluse. “This particular upper receiver will serve as a versatile tool, particularly for law enforcement and emergency service personnel.”

The discovery of a potential for separation in the breech plug has spurred the recall program.

Middletown, Conn.   – Lyman® Products has voluntarily announced a product safety warning and recall notice on their black powder rifles and pistols due to the potential of separation in the breech plug. Lyman maintains a safety-first approach, so despite finding only a few firearms affected and no reported injuries, Lyman is offering a recall program to have the issue corrected. Lyman regrets the inconvenience but remains committed to the safety of their customers.

The recall includes black powder rifles and pistols regardless of caliber including the following brands manufactured between March 1, 2017 to Dec. 22, 2017. Barrels with the serial number in the range of A595960 – A599025 are subject to this recall:
