Competitive Shooters Get State-of-the-Art Facility

By Glen Wunderlich

Preparing American athletes to win Olympic medals is no small challenge.  USA Shooting, a 501c3 non-profit corporation, was chartered by the United States Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body for the sport of shooting in April 1995 and gets no governmental financial help, as do competing foreign shooters.  And, plenty of practice is required.  However, practice itself doesn’t make perfect; only perfect practice does.

Firearms and technique are most important but until now, our athletes had been at a bit of a disadvantage in the technological aspect of matching ammunition to specific firearms.  Not anymore.

Lapua, maker of some of the most accurate ammunition in the world, has opened new Rimfire Service Center in Mesa, Arizona.  Patterned after the world-renowned Lapua Service Center in Schönebeck, Germany, this facility Read more

More Obama, More Guns

Aanalysts say and gun owners know that the “Obama effect” has translated into a financial windfall for the gun industry. The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates that firearms and ammunition had a $31 billion economic impact in 2011, up from $19 billion four years ago.   Funny, you never hear Obama pat himself on the back for his work on stimulating the firearms industry – and, he didn’t have to extract any of my money to do it!  More on the continuing salses increase here…

Man with Gun Stops Man with Knife

A knife wielding man seriously injured two people. “There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms.” However, a citizen with a gun stopped the madness.

This is why people desire to carry firearms:  Whack jobs are among us.  Just don’t look for this story to be told by the Brady Bunch.  More reality here…

I Hunt, Too, And The NRA Is For Me

J.R. Robbins

By my friend, J.R. Robbins at the NRA_ILA, Hunter’s Rights

A recent op-ed piece in The New York Times (“I Hunt, but the NRA Isn’t for Me,” by Lily Raff McCaulou) virtually damns NRA for supporting candidates based on their voting records on gun issues—in her view at the expense of hunting. She even states, “The NRA has never had much to do with hunting,” and says NRA does not represent most hunters or gun owners.

First, since Americans join NRA to ensure their gun rights are protected, maybe it is actually logical for the NRA to examine how candidates vote on gun rights issues. Defending the Second Amendment is what we are here for, so we—and the candidates we support—are part of the reason McCaulou is able to own a gun herself. Read more

Distort the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act to Raise Money

Following in the footsteps of the nation’s most powerful anti-hunting organization, a quartet of environmental groups wasted no time firing off fundraising appeals to fight HR 4089.  The bill, also called the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012, is the most significant pro-sportsmen legislation in 15 years.  The funding requests are full of lies, mischaracterizations and distortions.

Joining the Humane Society of the United States in this cynical attempt to cash in are the Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, The Wilderness Society and the National Parks Conservation Association.  Their fundraising appeals can be viewed by clicking on each group’s name.

Opponents falsely claim that the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act will: Read more

GW:  This is exciting news!  Lapua’s facility makes it possible to test various .22 rimfire ammo in particular firearms.  And, then being able to purchase lot numbers in sufficient quantities that works best is how accuracy happens.   And, Lapua is no ordinary ammunition.  I have found it to be the most accurate in my rimfires and use it exclusively for hunting and showing off.

Lapua is pleased to announce the opening of our new Rimfire Service Center in Mesa, Arizona! Patterned after the world renowned Lapua Service Center in Schönebeck, Germany, this facility gives American shooters the same opportunity to test not only various types, but also different lots of rimfire ammunition, in their firearms, under tightly controlled conditions. Shotguns Could be Outlawed by BATF

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is allowing public comments before issuing a decision that could result in outlawing certain types of shotguns currently available to citizens.

The BATF finished a study regarding the importability of certain shotguns. The basis for a possible ban is based on a loosely defined “Sporting Purpose” test. Using the vague definition, almost all pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns could be banned Read more
