Wolf Attacks on Hunting Dogs Increasing in Michigan
Wolf attacks on hunting dogs are increasing according to MDNR. In the photo attached to the story link, two bear-hunting dogs are shown killed by wolves, while they had treed a bear.

Michigan’s Deer Kill Up
Michigan’s deer-season kill appears to have increased over past years slightly. Only southern Michigan seems to have dipped.
Dog Shoots Man with Rifle
A 78-year-old Florida man, Billy E. Brown, was shot in a strange accident when a dog “bumped” a loaded .308 rifle causing it to fire.
The man is in critical but stable condition.
It is unclear if the safety was engaged, but my hunch is that it wasn’t.

Idaho Wolf Control from the Air
LEWISTON, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is aiming to control wolf populations with helicopter gunners and government trappers in north-central Idaho. Animal activists are sure to provide a howling response.
Michigan Deer Hunting Report
Upper Peninsula hunters checked 14.3 percent more deer than last season and northern Lower Peninsula hunters checked 18.4 percent more. Southern Michigan hunters checked 9.4 percent fewer deer, according to Rudolph, but the number checked statewide was up 6.2 percent from 2010.

New Book for the Hunters on Your Shopping List
Since the Boone and Crockett Club published its first records book in 1932, it has received an increasing number of photos from hunters with trophy entries. In the 1930s only about 15 percent or less of trophy entries were accompanied by photos, likely due to the fact that cameras were bigger, more cumbersome and difficult to operate back then. Photos for
trophies taken prior to this are even scarcer. (The names, places, and animals are an incredible step back in time.)
