Somerset County, Pennsylvania District Attorney Jerry Spangler will not charge a man who shot an intruder in self-defense with a bow and arrow, indicating that changes in the state’s new Castle Doctrine supported his decision.
The intruder had been shot through the chest with an arrow near the front steps to the man’s house. The bad guy had a wooden club and was warned to leave; finally, he got the point.

Participants once again enjoyed the insights and instruction from the “Master of the Long Bow” Byron Ferguson. It was a wonderful event held at the Goodman Ranch, Henderson TN. Global Outfitters TV filmed the school, and segments will be aired this winter on the Pursuit Channel. Two students harvested their first animal with traditional equipment on the ranch during the school.

A Minooka, Illinois deer hunter, Christopher Gerald Kiernan, has been charged in a 41-count criminal complaint with multiple conservation violations, including illegally taking a 36-point whitetail buck in a 2009 poaching incident.
