Poachers Popped in Warren

A couple of sneaky hunters are in big trouble if the Mayor of Warren (border city of Detroit) gets his way.  It seems as though the “hunters” arrowed a deer in the no-hunting city and scrambled off with it.  A witness provided enough information to track the scoundrels to a rented U-Haul vehicle and the evidence was obvious.  Details here…

Shiawassee County man charged with 125 violations related to poaching

Brian Birchmeier, 51, of Shiawassee County’s Owosso Township, was arraigned today in Shiawassee County District Court on 125 misdemeanor charges related to poaching deer and turkey in Michigan. Read more

Fire danger remains high in northern Michigan, despite rain

A continuing lack of moisture this spring has resulted in exceptional action by Gov. Rick Snyder. On May 25, the governor ordered a ban on outdoor burning in 49 counties in the northern part of Michigan. The Department of Natural Resources warns all residents that although rain has fallen in some areas, the risk of wildfires remains very high. Read more
